Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Speaking with reporters, Ali Bardakoglu said that the 90,000 memorizers are those who have attended Quranic courses held by the department, sondakika website reported.
He noted that every year thousands of Turkish citizens attend Quran memorization courses and upon passing the examinations, receive certificates of completion.
Mr. Bardakoglu added that the people of Turkey are proud to have been at the service of Islam and the Noble Quran for centuries.
He went of to say that memorization of the holy Quran is a blessing and those who learn the Quran by heart should strive to promote the teachings of the Holy Book.
The predominant religion in Turkey is Islam and Muslims make up nearly 98 percent of the population.
